BC Property Connect is a new digital service being developed by the Land Title and Survey Authority of British Columbia, expected to launch in 2026. We wanted to give you a heads-up about it since it could be useful for keeping an eye on your property.

What It Does

Once it launches, you'll be able to log into a secure account and see your property's land title information.

More importantly, you'll be able to track when documents get filed against your property.

Why You Should Care

A few scenarios where this could matter:

Someone tries to transfer your property without permission: If someone impersonates you and files transfer documents, you might catch it before the transfer is officially registered.

Liens are filed against your property: You'll see if a builder's lien, tax lien, or other claim shows up. This can give you a heads-up about potential disputes that could affect your ownership.

Unauthorized mortgages or charges: If someone tries to register a mortgage or charge against your property without your knowledge, you'll spot it.

The Real Value

There's typically a gap between when something is filed with the land title office and when it's officially registered. If you're checking your account, you might have time to do something about it—whether that's proving a filing is fraudulent or unauthorized—before it becomes a permanent change on your property.

One Thing to Keep in Mind

The system is still being tested, so we don't know yet whether you'll get notified when something is filed or when it's officially registered. That timing makes a big difference—a filing-stage notification would give you the most time to act. When the system actually launches, check what notifications you'll actually receive.

Bottom Line

When BC Property Connect goes live, it's worth setting up an account and checking it once in a while. It's a straightforward way to stay on top of what's happening with your property.
